Semilla's goal has always been to lend support to the most crucial and overlooked members of the coffee supply system - the smallholder.
While smallholders hold up the vast majority of the world's coffee production, they still overwhelmingly lack the connection, training, and support to meaningfully interact with an international specialty market.
As an importer, we've committed to assisting these smallholders in building their capacity so that they can move from the peripheral place of possessing nothing but a coffee cherry, to becoming knowledgeable and confident specialty coffee producers.
With our roasted coffee platform, The Portal, the incredible and inspiring smallholders in the Semilla network are connected directly to you, the daily drinker.
With every order placed, you become an engaged stakeholder in their success as we return 10% of the total retail price to the smallholder groups we work with for use as they see fit.
The truth is, without meanginful, goal-oriented action by all of us in the coffee supply system, smallholder coffee production is at risk. We hope you'll step through The Portal to a new way of seeing your daily cup.
